Peacemaker, The Inside of a Worm, and Much More :)

My daughter is in a program for our church called Young Women.
They are a group of girls age 12-17.
They have goal books called PERSONAL PROGRESS
and there are different "VALUES" that have different achievements that they can do to get a necklace when they are all finished & will have learned many valuable lessons and Personally Progressed :)
One of the Achievements is to be a Peacemaker for 2 weeks.
So, I made her a little chart and printed it out for her.
She chose the scriptures and for each day that she tries her best, she can mark off a circle.
She has been doing really well, too!!

In Biology...
we use the Apologia Biology
{love it!}
It was time to Dissect an Earthworm.
I never ever ever knew that earthworms
had so many parts inside of them!!
It was truly fascinating! We learned a LOT
of interesting things about earthworms!

Get ready... Get Set... Go!

Sometimes.. ok MOST of the time
class is pretty informal.
It works for us :)
When it seems like anyone is losing
their focus,,
whether it be the student or the teacher,
then we head to the dining room and sit at the table.
Until then, we hang on the couch :)

She had "BEARY" to assist her in making
Health flash cards. We have been learning
about all of the crazy dangers of tobacco!
I always knew there were a lot.. but I never knew
there were SO MANY!
Did YOU know that even if a smoker isn't
smoking at that very moment, his/her breath
is still contaminating the air!?!!?!

Algebra is my WORST subject
and it is her worst subject, too!
IT just so happens to be her thoughtful
Dad's BEST subject!!!
So, he takes turns teaching Algebra.
He teaches her how to work the
problems and I take over when it comes to
reviewing what she already knows.
He is SUCH a great teacher!
{i love that man!}

The BEST thing about home schooling
is that you can change up your routine
any time you feel like something isn't working
to your child's advantage.
For instance:
Here is the little print-out that I made to help me stay focused:

Here is NEXT weeks:
Notice a  subject missing?
That's because Spanish is NOT
required this year for her and
she just did NOT have time to fit that in
especially with having to pull her out of public school
that incorporated the awful BLOCK
scheduling... so I would have to fit in 150 hours
of Spanish during this semester- which equals around a 2 hour
class each day in order for her to get that credit.
So, forget it.
We are doing the basics that she needs to have this semester
to get the credits that she needs.
So, the NEW schedule looks like this:
Next school year will be a LOT better
because I will be starting off at the beginning
of the school year and there won't be any of that
crazy block scheduling to conform to.

I have learned a LOT about myself during this home schooling adventure. Some good.. and some bad.. but I have set new goals for myself.. one of which is to lose these pesky TEN POUNDS that make sitting
on the couch all day very uncomfortable :)

February 2013

I know you all want to know what has been going on in da Calls' hiz-ouse...
Well. let me tell ya.

1. It was warm outside.
2. It was cold outside.
3. repeat #1
4. repeat #2
5. Keep Repeating... just layer it on up like you do Lasagna... then add a storm on top.

6. Valentine's day. Ohhhh yeah... a day of LOVE and LETHARGY from all of the chocolate thus devoured.
-- We got the kids all of the necessary items: chocolates, stuffed animals, balloons filled with helium, and a night out to eat at a restaurant and Baskin Robbin's ice cream for dessert :)
Spencer got me See's Chocolates.. which ended up being grody to the max- they tasted stale. Total bummer.. so he called them and took care of bidness. :) I will be getting a fresh box delivered via UPS tomorrow :) He also got me a dozen red roses that smell as gorgeous as they look! He also got me a little stuffed Monkey that says WILD THING all over it's boxer shorts.

things that make you go "hmmmm"  ♥

7. Spencer and I were playing football outside and he threw the football and it hit my ring the right/wrong way and BAM my finger hurt so bad and turned black and blue and started swelling.. so I had to take my wedding ring off and wear it on my right hand until the swelling went down... that was wierd. I'm so used to the ring being on my left hand that I felt all sideways all day!!!

8. Libby came home from school with a swollen crooked finger. She was playing basketball with some friends and the basketball hit her finger. So, we took her to the ER since her regular DR was sick and out of the office. Thank goodness it wasn't broken.. it was only a bad sprain. So, she had to wear this metal brace thing on her pinky for 3 days. It's all better now :)

9. The Faith in God kickoff was super fun! I was in charge of the boys' activities that night... I think everyone had a blast!

10. I started up my business again.. after taking a much needed break. I received 10 orders within the first 3 hours of re-opening... wow. I am thankful for them.. If it keeps up like this, we will be able to pay our OUTRAGEOUS electric bills and pay off Libby's braces sooner than we thought :) YAY!!!

Welp. that's about all folks. I need to go wake Spencer up so we can go bowling before he has to go to work :)

Happy Presidents' Day!

January 2013

Lots of things have happened this month...
Here are just a few:
I love my CLIPBOARD CALENDAR
and my Sassy Zebra Print Clipboard :)
 Jacob is loving this series...
He has read all of them and is now
on the very last one! HE can't wait to
see if there will be another!
Libby has been sewing some cute little monsters!
She is doing a fabulous job!
We didn't have any Poly-Fil  to
stuff the little monsters...so
she used what we have PLENTY of:
PLASTIC WALMART BAGS!

Awww! How CUTE!!!

January has been a rough month for
Jacob.. he has been sick 2 times
this month... each sicnkess
lasting at least a week!
No FUN at ALL!!!

My Menu Planner is so extremely
Helpful!
Seriously!!! and I have found that
WET ERASE markers work soooo
much better than Dry Erase markers!
I will never go back!!

FHE Charts are da BOMB!
This helps us keep things
organized :)

Allie has been crocheting up a storm!
She sent us an Ear Warmer... it is
really cute and really works!!!
Isn't Libby a Doll :)

And YAY it fits me, too!
{excuse the No Make Up photo}

Here is a simple treat that is
Simply Delicious!
Nutter Butter sandwich cookies
halfway coated with barely melted
dark chocolate chips...
ohhh yes! delicious!!!
I say "barely melted" because you want it
to still be thick so the coating is thick!
Then you can add little pearl candy balls
for eyes... just for fun :)

We still have YET to celebrate little John's birthday because he was sick..
but we are looking forward to partying with that little fella once he is all well!

There has been SO MUCH sickness around here, that the school system closed school for 2 days.
This is the 2nd time in the past few months that this has happened!!?!?!
There are seriously some Super Viruses going on around here!!!!

Me Not Likey.

.... til we meet again...

Toodles!
